VMWare machines keep dissapearing from SCVMM

Hi

We are in the process of planning a migration from VMware to Hyper-V 2012. We have mirrored our live environment in the lab, but are having a few issues.

VMware, we have two hosts, running ESXi 4.1

Hyper-V we have 2 hosts running Server 2012 Data Centre in a HA Cluster

Management software is VMM 2012, SP1.

Periodically, throughout the day, VM's on the ESXi servers keep on disappearing from VMM. A little while later they will come back again. Sometimes all of them disappear, other times 3 or 4, other times again could be 10 out of the 18 have gone.

The other issue is about converting V2V from VMware to HV. When we try and run the process with VMM, there are only 5 out of the 17 machines listed.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Connecting via Console - ActiveX Plugin

Hi All,

I'm using System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager SP1.

I have successfully added a number of HyperV and VMware hosts and can see all the VM's on these hosts.

The problem I'm having is when attempting to open a VMware VM via the "Connect via Console" option.

I get a message advising that an ActiveX plugin is missing, and asking if I want to install it.

When I say yes to this, my default browser opens and attempts to download "vmware-vmrc-win32-x86.exe" from my vCenter Server.

It is unsuccessful in this attempt as the path it's attempting to download from is invalid.

I managed to download the plug in from my local machine (i.e. the PC that I'm running VMM Console) via the folllowing URL:

http://localhost:9090/vsphere-client/vmrc/vmware-vmrc-win32-x86.exe

The plugin has been successfully installed into both IE and Firefox, but I continually get the message to say that the ActiveX plugin is missing when I attempt to "connect via console".

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks,

Bob

Unable to create Virtual Maschine on ESXHost

Hello,

I added my vCenter and ESX Host to my VMM2012SP1 environment yesterday. After adding ESX host, I import the certificate and give it the root credentials. The status changed from OK(Limited) to OK.

But i cannot create a Virtual Maschine on that Host. When I try it, I retreive following Rating Errors:

Not enough memory available. Total memory on the host is 0 MB. Remaining memory for use by existing and new virtual machines is 0 MB. At the time of evaluation, the remaining memory was 0 MB and the amount requested by this virtual machine was 512 MB.

- No connected storage device could be identified that satisfies all requirements.

Can somebody help me with this? I think that the Host is sill in OK(Limited), but I have no idea why ..

Thank you!

SC VMM 2012 with SP1 and CU2.

I've added VMware vCenter 5.1 server. It is displayed in VMM console. However, the console displays that it has 0 managed hosts and 0 managed VMs.

Status of vCenter server is "Responding", the account used to communicate with it is valid and has full administrative rights to the server.

What could be wrong?

VMM 2012 SP1 vCenter Server connection not responding - Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password. (InvalidLogin). (Error ID: 2951, Detailed Error: )

VMM 2012 SP1 installed on Server 2012 machine

VMM was integrated with a vSphere environment and was working correctly yesterday

As part of a preparation to migrate VMWare machines to Hyper-V, we ran the MAP tool yesterday on a Windows 7 workstation to view virtual machine migration readiness reports

MAP tool could not connect into VMWare environment, no data returned from inventory

Look into VMM server today, and the vCenter server shows the following status

The password on the run as account has not changed, the account is not locked out, it can successfully login to vSphere, and is listed as an admin in vSphere.  Again, everything worked yesterday, the MAP tool was the only task performed, which failed to collect data, and today we have no VMWare resources in VMM.

Any attempts to delete the vSphere connection, or change credentials to a different run as account result in the following error:

Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password. (InvalidLogin). (Error ID: 2951, Detailed Error: )

We have also tried to remove any existing connections using the VMM PowerShell Command Shell, run as administrator, using the following command:

Get-SCVirtualizationManager | Remove-SCVirtualizationManager -RunAsynchronously

This command returns a similar error to what I have shown above in the first screenshot:

Remove-SCVirtualizationManager : Virtual Machine Manager cannot complete the VirtualCenter action on server server.fqdn.com because of the
following error: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password. (InvalidLogin). (Error ID: 2951, Detailed Error: )

This error occurs when an operation is denied access because of insufficient privileges on a managed object. Resolve the issue and then try the operation
again.

Hi

I am attempting to creata VM on ESX from within VMM, when I go through the Create Virtual Machine Wizard I get No connected sotrage device could be identified that satisfies all requirements.

I'm attempting to use the storage which is already addressed within the ESX Host.

If i check the properties of the host from within Fabric, and go to Storage the Disk is there, but it says 500.00 GB (0 GB available)

Whats going on here? is using SCVMM to create VM's in this way supported?

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to convert a physical server call Account to a virtual server. I am using Virtual Machine Manager 2012 SP1 on my another server which is 2012 call Apps02. Whenever I try to convert, it stops halfway and it gives me Error (2912). It says Element not found (0x80070490) and recommended action to check WS-Management service is installed and running on server Apps02. However, I have checked that the service is running both on Account and Apps02 server. I have even tried restarting the service. Worst thing, when I try again the second time, my account gets locked and I get a message saying Access has been denied while contacting the server. I unlocked the account and try again but same thing happen.

Need help desperately! Thanks!

Hi

I have already an existing vCenter Server into my SCVMM environment. The problem is " I am unable to remove it from SCVMM server because vCenter server doesn't exist now".

When I try to add a new vCenter Server, it gives me an error that old vCenter Server is not responding. What should I do to solve this issue?

Also how many vCenter Servers, I can add into a single SCVMM?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

ESX Host Status OK (Lmited)

I am experimenting with managing VMWare ESX 5.1 hosts with  SCVMM 2012 SP1 and attended the MVA Webinar yesterday. It was very good and solve one of the problems that I have been having. I was getting a variety of security errors that looked like it could not log on to the ESX server. The seminar explained that actually there were two states "Limited" and "Normal" and the default "Normal" has only some basic capabilities. In any case the solution was to create a Run as Account with the ESX Root ID and password. Then use that account to connect each host and accept the certificate. This worked great and solved my problem. Now for the question.

The webinar show briefly a chart of the differences between OK (Limited) and OK. Does anyone know where that chart is? I wasn't able to get it all down and  I would like it for reference before the notes from the webinar are published. Thanks.
